This is our friend Helen with Chaco. Chaco is being restrained since he was going crazy with having people with him in the back seat. Nice face dan.
Julie and I's way of sharing our lives to our friends and family. Enjoy, post, comment, and reflect!

Terry H with crates of kale
I just wrote the long story to this picture, but the the web connection went down and I lost the story. Anyways, Victory Acres got 110 crates from a shipment of kale and mustard greens that Walmart rejected. All said, about a 1,000 dollars worth of crate. They will work great for harvesting, washing, and transporting produce. They even collapse for storage! Ya!

The Couch
Last night, for the first time in our marriage, Dan had to sleep on the couch!
Don't get your hopes up for a dramatic fight story, though. It's just that's Dan's been sick, and he felt it would be best to not to sleep together because a) he was breathing so loudly that he was waking himself up, which means I wouldn't sleep at all; b) I'm terrified of getting sick. So many people here are sick! Fortunately, Dan is sort of starting to feel better. The last two days Dan has either been sleeping or a space cadet, and I've felt like a mother forcing chicken noodle soup and plenty of water on him. Needless to say, we're both ready for Dan to be well again.

A word from farmer dan
Recently I think I should be called electritian and wood heat dan. Electraburn dan, sounds like a great band name! Honestly, Terry and I have been breaking out the basic wiring books and calling electrician friends for figuring out wiring up the greenhouse and walk-in-cooler at the farm. We are almost ready to buy supplies and start the process, which in an of itself will be another learning process. We have designed a wood stove out an old oil bin and a 55 gallon drum as a heat exchanger, now just to piece it togther. I wonder if a 2-year technical college degree in plumbing, electric, auto, construction, etc. would have suited me much better. Although, I wouldn't have gotten all the theory, ideas, and philosophy which has put me in this role of farmer in the first place. So the question is, Is it theory then practice or practice then theory that really matters?

Burn Out and Water Aerobics
Thanks for the feedback from the last post. I am looking forward to staying home next year more and year, in part because I am SO SICK OF TEACHING!!! Not all the time though, and I know I'll probably miss it next year, but I think I'm getting burned out. Or it could just be that's it February. And really, I think I'm more sick of getting up in the morning and grading/planning every night than the actual teaching itself. Anyway. It'll be nice to have a break.
Laremy and Becca, are you moving out of Annapolis or just to a new apartment? Because if you're moving out of the city, I heard there's a sweet farm in UPLAND, INDIANA that you may want to move to! We're also a little up in the air about money, but we know it'll work out.
Finally, I started a water aerobics class. It's every Tuesday and Thursday for an hour, and it totally kicks my butt. Today I came home afterwards, took a shower, and lay in bed for 45 minutes until dinner. But apparently it's good form of exercise for pregnant women.
