A professional? I profess in the work I do. I am prophetic in the work I do. I guess, sounds like a lot to live up to but let the ride begin. Things I have learned in graduate school so far
- I now know how to calculate a water budget for an entire watershed.
- I can read a scientific journal without falling asleep (almost)
- I can teach myself anything if I put my mind and time to it (So can you)
- Is it possible for ones brain to grow
- Indiana Rapid assesment for Wetlands
- I smell bad even after sitting all day (maybe I should study bacteria)
Tomorrow I travel to Indy to go to a Watershed Symposium. Watershed Meeting The topic is value of long-term research for watershed protection. Should allow me to network and get familiar with lots of organizations in Indiana. Five of us are going with Dr. Guebert (geologist/hydro) and it should be a fun time. Well, must be off to Grad sem to learn about my Proff research.
Julie and I's way of sharing our lives to our friends and family. Enjoy, post, comment, and reflect!

A Comment
This morning Karen, another English teacher here and head of our department, came to my room to talk to me. She said she has one of my Creative Writing students in her English class, and that he said that he really liked CW and that he liked me as a teacher. She just said we all need to hear that kind of stuff (this is an illustration of some of the very nice people I work with). I played it cool, said thanks, and then almost broke down in tears after she left (again, I'm overdramatic). But seriously, that just made my day, my week, my entire three weeks of being here! And the best thing about it is that I decided to try being more positive even before I heard that comment. God is so faithful.

Confessions of an Overdramatic Idealist
I just wanted to say to those who want to be future teachers, like Kevin and Katy, please don't be frightened by my posts! I will try to be more positive in future posts, because there is so much that is good about teaching. I am just very new at all this, and I tend not to always deal so well with new experiences.
Something positive: My Creative Writing class is going well. Tomorrow we finish our poetry unit with a poetry reading! There are a couple students who are really talented, and the other students are trying and handing in work. Tuesday we start on writing short stories, and I think we might be play the bowl game when we're talking about character. Dan gave me the idea to use the bowl game b/c he wants to use it in one of his lessons (I have to give credit where credit is due!).

Senior Talent Show
A step back in time. I just happened upon these pictures. Oh, the glory days of pigtails and nightgowns.
